Intel Quad-Core (Core 2 Quad) is Ready
Not long after Intel releases its new processor in the whole new architecture, Intel Core 2, Intel is now ready to introduce it's new processor line-up, Intel Quad-Core. The engineers at This Intel Quad-Core Processor is assembled using two individual Conroe dies. According to Intel, it's more economical to combine two dies into one packaging to create a quad-core processor than to redesign the entire processor architecture and put it through the whole process of manufacturing and qualifying the new part.
The current Intel 975X and Intel 965 Chipset are designed for Core 2 Duo and should theoretically work with the upcoming quad-core processor. Although the new Core 2 Extreme QX6700 is rated at 130 Watt, boards following Intel's motherboard design guidelines should have sufficient power routed to the processor.
